Cleaning Fee

Please ensure you supply your parts clean, free from dirt, oil and grit. If you present your parts dirty you will be charged a cleaning fee. This varies in price from $25 - $100 per part, depending on the time needed to clean your parts. This is because we need to ensure your part is clean in order to not contaminate our media. Cleaning your parts with detergent and water before presenting to us will save you money and also cut down the time needed for the turn around of your part being completed.

Warranty on Cerakote

Cerakote is not a permanent coating. Some parts usage such as dirt motorsports the wear and tear is extremely abrasive and some parts wear more than others due to the design of the machine and where other parts or things move against it. Such as on a motorbike where  boots, dirt, rocks & sand repeatedly hits/rubs a part. This is wear and tear and not covered under warranty. Wear on parts can differ from one person to the next.  Absolutely no coating is permanent. Even OEM coating's & anodized aftermarket accessories wear over time. Cerakote is a good affordable cosmetic coating that works great for most applications. There is no guarantee the life you may have out of your parts. Cerakote is sprayed .0005-.001 thin. That is half to one thousandth. It is not heavy and bulky like powder coating is. However there is good data provided by Cerakote in the durability of their product.

Black Blox Finishes warrants our coating process for 2 years from the original date of invoice.

The warranty covers the failure of Cerakote under normal use for loss of adhesion, flaking or peeling.

Discolouration, staining, oxidation, blistering, corrosion or general failure caused by exceeding the coatings thermal ability are not covered under this warranty.

Thermal wrapping the ceramic coating are not covered under this warranty.

Black Blox Finishes reserves the right to evaluate warranty claims, then either pro-rate, credit or re-coat products at their discretion.

This does not include freight, strip charges, costs incurred for down time, removal or any replacement costs. All warranty claims must be returned to Black Blox Finishes for inspection, along with a copy of the original invoice. Black Blox Finishes stands behind its products and will do everything it can to provide quality products and service to its customers.

Some second hand parts, once prepped/cleaned or blasted will show up cracks or rust pin holes that were existing. Eg hairline cracks in welds.

Black Blox Finishes will call you if these become visible and we will need to organise and quote the welding repair of this part before we can continue with the surfacing finishes. If you choose not to repair the part or continue with the surfacing treatment you will only be charged for the prepping / blasting process. Black Blox Finishes is not liable for these faults in the part as they were already there but only became visible once the existing coating is removed.

Warranty on Vapour Blast

Vapour blasting is performed with water and media. While we take our best care in plugging internal chambers that we don't want media entering before blasting, and then meticulously removing media on completion, there is the potential that some media residue may remain.

A final check prior to re assembly of the part is the responsibility of the customer to ensure no media traces remain.

It is the full responsibility of the customer or customer's mechanic to ensure that their part is completely free of media before using the part. Black Blox Finishes will not be responsible for any damage caused by using the part that was not cleaned or checked for remaining media before use.

Warranty on Powder Coating

Black Blox Finishes shall warranty its powder coatings for a period of one year. Black Blox Finishes warrants that the process of the pre-treatment and cure of all parts powder coated meets or exceeds the industry standards set forth by the powder manufacturers.

Powder coating finishes can last up to 10-20 years, but due to the consistent use, exposure to UV light, and outdoor environment may break it down faster. Different coatings also have varying lifespans. For instance, coatings that have fluoropolymers and urethanes can last longer

Powder coating is resistant to cracking, peeling, chipping, abrasion, rust and damage due to chemical exposure. While it isn't indestructible, it is highly durable, retains colour and gloss, goes on uniformly, has excellent UV stability and is a far more environmentally friendly option than traditional liquid paint.

Although powder coat creates a “shell” or “skin” over the part, it isn't damage proof. Under certain conditions, powder coat can chip or crack and once it does, it acts as an egg shell that can be picked away and peeled.
